Who we are

Who we are

“Life learning is about respecting the everyday experiences that enable children to understand and to interact with the world and their culture.”

Comfort and Cozy Learning Center (CCLC)/ C&C KIDS have been a trusted presence in Port Angeles, WA, for over 25 years, providing high-quality childcare and early education for children ages 1–12. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, we are deeply committed to serving our community by ensuring every child has access to a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment where they can grow and thrive.

Our programs—including toddler, Pre 3, and Pre K classes thru School Age academic and recreational care are thoughtfully designed to meet the diverse abilities, interests, and learning styles of each child. We go beyond academics by fostering social, emotional, and physical development through play-based learning, outdoor exploration, and hands-on experiences.

As a community-rooted nonprofit, we are guided by the belief that every family deserves access to affordable, high-quality care. We partner with parents, caregivers, and the broader community to create a strong foundation for lifelong learning. To support families, we also provide childcare before, after, and during non-school months, offering flexible options that meet the needs of working parents.

For more than two decades, our mission has remained the same: to provide exceptional care, unwavering support for families, and a positive start for every child in our community.

Play-Based Learning

We believe that children learn best through meaningful play. Our play-based, child-centered programs integrate various areas of development, including physical, cognitive, social, emotional, language, and self-help skills. Through play, children are encouraged to explore, discover, and problem-solve, fostering a sense of curiosity and independence that leads to individual growth and a positive self-image.

Our outdoor spaces play a key role in this approach. With two outdoor green areas and an outdoor classroom open for five months of the year, we offer children abundant opportunities for outdoor play, which supports their physical, social, and emotional development. These creative and natural environments provide the perfect backdrop for children to explore, engage in imaginative play, and grow.

Family Involvement

We recognize that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers, and we believe that children learn best when families are actively involved in their education. We foster strong connections between home and school by encouraging parent participation and involvement in the learning process. We strive to create a bridge between families and our center, recognizing that a collaborative relationship enhances a child’s overall development.

Inclusivity and Non-Discrimination

We are committed to creating an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all. We do not discriminate based on race, sex, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, gender identity, or gender expression. Our goal is to provide a learning space where every child feels valued, respected, and supported in their unique journey.

By prioritizing inclusive settings that respect each child’s individuality, we create opportunities for all children to thrive in our programs. We believe in the potential of every child to succeed when given the right environment, experiences, and support.

We are more than just a childcare facility; We are a community where children and families come together to learn, grow, and build lasting memories. Through our emphasis on play-based learning, outdoor exploration, and family involvement, we aim to provide a holistic, enriching experience that sets the foundation for a lifetime of learning.

All of our programs celebrate monthly heritage, pride, and awareness months along with meaningful cultural holidays and traditions. Each month, our classrooms come alive with decorations, books, music, and activities that highlight the richness of diverse communities. These celebrations help children learn about the world around them, embrace differences, and build a strong sense of inclusion and belonging as part of our family.
